Warhammer LCG: Smash Go Boom by Cryptcrawler Warhammer LCG: Smash Go Boom by Cryptcrawler
Full View please.

One of 6 cards I did for the Warhammer Invasion Living Card Game by Fantasy Flight Games.

Despite the tight deadline I had a lot of fun with these cards; the Warhammer universe has this really fun, dark sense of humor mixed with total brutality.

At first I wasnt sure if id be a good candidate to capture the over-the-top barbarism that the Orc Army embodies, but I really enjoyed trying!

You Warhammer junkies will have to be the final judge of whether I was true to them or not.

This piece in particular was a lot fun due to the absurdly cruel, yet funny subject matter.
What does it mean that im entertained by such things?

You can find out all about Warhammer Invasion here [link] or check out all the other sweet products that Fantasy Flight Games produces if you take a spin around the web-site.

Thanks for coming by my gallery, best wishes!

Also you did a great job with the orcs feeling very "gorilla" like in proportion from the warhammer universe.

Something about the colors in this really remind me of Angus McBride.

These "half-legged" orcs are hilarious to look at! The jumping one especially, it's like looking at barbarian midgets.

Chickens will always enhance the sense of the ridiculous for some reason.
Lets face it..a chicken is a pretty ridiculous animal with a equally ridiculous fuckin name.

fantastic job ! the colours are great and specially i admire how you place textures ( for example of the greenskins) just at the right places...
i think this transmits the whole warhammer fantasy campy spirit just perfectly ! Fantasy flight games must be happy to have you working for them. :)

I hope so because I certainly like working for them; nice bunch over there and they have been my steady client for over a year straight now, not only that but the contracts themselves are really fun.

if you don´t mind if i ask - you are freelancing or got a fixed contract ?
Beside some school and children book publications i´m actually an weatherproof Streetpainter since 15 years (and happy with it) ,but i would love to do some work for roleplay games or such - but since here in portugal the game-industry is almost not existing - i would have to work from far...
i allready looked for independent projects (even non-paid ones) but i´m always a bit unsure how this could work. And for sure i constantly need to improve my skills. (training at concept-art in the moment ) ;)

Im a freelance guy.
Because of the internet you can work from anywhere, so your best bet is to take your time and investigate game companies to see who carries a line of products you would like to contribute to and then just send in some goodies via thier submissions process.

Best of luck!

Im the same way; I know what to do half the time but still need to run it by others, theres no shame in that, you never know the angle you may not be seeing.
Take your time and make sure your skills are where you want them to be ( within reason of course) so you can come out of the gate strong.

yeah - i know what you mean - there is no use to hurry things, there are inhuman amounts of pacience needed in this - allready 20 years ago everybody told me what i should/could do with my "talent" (i don´t believe in talent) but i always just wanted to improve not show off. Always hated art exhibits cause i never felt to be able to show what i really wanted to show. But well- always needed to make my living by drawing thats why i started selling my stuff on the "street" since my 18 years. Now i´m 38 and and i still love my work as an streetpainter. It´s little restrictive cause i tend to represent mainly the city i´m living in - but there is no art director or difficult clients - just change cash for drawings.
Since i started working digital (this year) i feel liberated and paint what i really want to paint. It´s awesome to get all this feedback and help at this stage of the game.
In the moment i´m training very hard with the activities on conceptart.org and i plan to continue this for a long time.
Sorry for babbling all this on you - i know how many messages you reply (!!) - so a double-thanx to you !!!! :)
