Artist's Comments

Full view please.

From my portfolio.
Completed from sketch to finish in Photoshop 7, no references.

This was my 4th and most difficult work in photoshop.

Working on this piece was a massive learning experience and turning point for me as an illustrator, when I decided I was going to focus as heavily as possible on achieving a 3D feel with my work.

Originally titled "The Carrion King"

Damn! It's too cool!
I'm dreaming to get skill like yours.
:iconcryptcrawler:
Kashtan - thanks so much for your kind words.
You can get improved drawing skills by drawing from life and trying to emulate your artistic heroes - its what I did!

Use photo reference to help get you going and just work your ass off my friend - you can achieve it.
If you ever want to exchange notes on drawing let me know - ill help anyway I can

Take care and thanks again for your interest!

Dang, it looks just like something you'd see out of a current gen game, maybe even better. :D

92% of teens have moved onto rap. If you are part of the 8% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your signature

Thanks a lot Crestant, I work really hard to try and get a 3d effect and when people say so it really makes a difference.
Thank you.
:iconkashtan:
Where are you get references for your works?
:iconcryptcrawler:
For this particular piece there were no references used, its purely imagination.

I went through a phase where I refused to use photo reference because Frazetta didnt use reference photos and I wanted to challenge myself.
After I got my pride out of the way and realized I have to do whats best for the art and not my ego I went back to using photo reference.

For the simple fact that as artists I believe were trying to create the illusion of life, and unless your god ( or deeply gifted by god) your not going to be accurate if you dont use reality as a basis and reference.

Heh, sorry for the novel there - but this is something ive just recently experienced so its fresh.

Dude, I love the "metalized" light effect you use on surfaces.♥
