I wish I had a suitable answer my friend. I dont really think, I just do. But it isnt that simple out of the gate, ive been practicing obsessively for years, and its been years of trial and error. A lot of the lighting you see isnt totally correct either; ive practiced a lot to movie stills and that lighting is thoroughly planned with light sources that dont totally make sense but create a mood. 300 is the perfect example of a movie that is laden with impossible lighting schemes but it looks pretty. If you practice trying to duplicate lighting in a photographic image youll get better, trust me.
Just be willing to experience the pain that is necassary to grow and you cant lose.
